I don’t consider myself a Siskel or an Ebert by any stretch of the imagination. I don’t go to movies with the intent of reviewing them afterward for all of my adoring fans. I just go because it’s a great escape and it’s fun and I like being immersed in someone else’s story for a few hours.
Lately I’ve seen some good movies, so I decided to put down a few thoughts about them. Sometimes I forget details—like in Gravity, I honestly can’t remember if Bullock’s character lives or dies at the end, but I think she dies—but I’m not too worried about that.
So I’m going to be talking about current movies I’ve seen and maybe some that are not so current. Just for the heck of it, because this is my blog, and probably no one will read it anyway, so it’s just for me.
I’ve discovered the little theater right in my own small town. It’s almost a pretend theater, or a toy theater, because it’s so small. But it does actually show new releases, and it sells drinks and popcorn, so I guess those things make it a real theater.
It’s like seven minutes from my house. So if my son doesn’t have homework and he doesn’t feel like going to the skate park, the two of us will go and catch a show. It’s quite fun.
Anyway, this blog is just about movies. New ones. Old ones. Good ones. Crummy ones. I’m just going to have a good time spouting my views to a non-existent audience. For the heck of it.
By the way, if you are wondering what's up with the website name, well I used to be scared and so I wanted to learn the art of self defense. Ignatius P. had a pretty intense program. I learned all I could. I was quite a scared Mary, so to speak. These days, I don't worry so much. But for privacy, I tried to make the craziest name I could find. (throw people off the trail). Does that mean I'm paranoid. Now I've got myself thinking. I hope not.
Too much movie watching I guess.

But you can call me Movie Mary if you'd like.
